I stopped by the Harvey Creek Conservation Area in Sandwich, IL (“A Fair City”) this morning on my way to work because I woke up a little earlier than usual and have been meaning to check it out. The 60 acre prairie and recreation area has a wee 0.6 mile hiking loop with a pavilion area in the center. It won the Conservation and Native Landscaping Award from the US EPA/Chicago Wilderness in 2008. Though today felt pretty spring-like (mid-50s on January 31st?!), I can’t wait for real spring to arrive for a visit when things are growing!
